You guys! I just got back from the best weekend ever with my girls! We went to La Cantera Resort my bachelorette party and it was the weekend of my dreams. I had so much fun with my girls and the resort was incredible. I did not even feel like we were in Texas. It felt like a Mexico resort but with hill country views instead of ocean views.
The resort was about 3 hours drive for us (coming from the Houston area) and we checked in on Friday afternoon around 2:00. You can either self park for free (you do have to walk a big hill) or valet which is $33/day. They of course require masks as you walk through the hotel, but when at a restaurant, in the pool, or seated with a drink in the lounge, you can remove your mask. I had to snap our bachelorette mask pic to remember the times.
We ate a late lunch at Sweet Fire Kitchen (onsite) and (although it wasn’t on the menu) they did have gluten free buns and bread available. The food pricing was very reasonable and the signature cocktail menu was great. They have full bars available throughout the hotel and have great bartenders that can make just about anything you want.
When we checked in, we were given a free Kettle One Vodka drink from the lounge bar from 4:00-5:00PM. I believe this was just a promotion run by Kettle One at the time but they made fresh handmade cocktails for us all at the lounge bar. One thing I would recommend if you head to La Cantera is to bring cash for tipping (since we couldn’t add it to the credit card bill since it was a free drink.) The main floor (which is actually the 3rd floor) has a ton of seating. Different sections of coaches and chairs so we hung out down there waiting for all the girls to arrive. Once everyone arrived we went back up to the hotel rooms and got ready for the night out. Before changing for dinner, I wore this white cotton dress with these fun sleeves from Amazon. I also wore these MRS earrings all weekend! I love the pearl cluster at the top and the statement they make!
My sweet maid of honor, Lesli, planned the itinerary for the weekend and our “theme” night was tickle me pink! I wore white and the girls all wore pink. We took the hotel’s complimentary shuttle to Uni’ko Japanese House where we had dinner reservations. We had champagne, saki, and more sushi than our hearts desired. The tuna tower appetizer was my favorite part. Because we are a group of talkative girls, we were there for almost 3 hours! Lol next up we headed to Bar Louie. We are still very much in a pandemic so there isn’t really a bar scene at this point in time, but personally that is okay with me! I’m more of a dinner & drinks kind of girl, or a drink by the water kind of girl than a bar goer! We were one of the few seated tables at Bar Louie and all had a round of cocktails. We went back to the hotel and played card games and talked until way too late. I wore a white sequin dress from Tobi (similar dress linked here) with the same MRS earrings and a “bride to be” sash!
The next day, we went to Harrietta’s (onsite) for coffee and a light breakfast. I got the oat milk mocha latte and it was seriously so so good. The girls had planned to rent a cabana by the pool for us. We liked the idea of a cabana because not only is it 100 degrees but you can’t pull more than 4 chairs together (hotel rules) and even to do that you must receive manager’s permission. From what we heard, the pools fill up very quickly and by about 9:00 there’s no chairs left. We were very bummed that the cabanas were all sold out at the “adult pool.” But after speaking with some of the staff, they let us rent a cabana at the spa pool which was incredible!
The cabana easily sat all 7 of us with two chairs and a large coach. It also had a mini fridge with waters and a place to store our snacks! Haha We had the best waiter, Joshua who was amazing. We all individually mentioned how awesome he was and was a joy to be around. We snapped some picture in the cabana when we first arrived but then spent the majority of the day at the pool. It was seriously the best day. Pina coladas, sunshine, friends, and hill country views. It really doesn’t get much better than that in my opinion. We stayed at the pool until the minute it closed (6:00PM) so I think we were there for a good 8 hours. The girls all wore pink one piece swimsuits that said Babe and I wore a white one piece swimsuit that said bride.
We went back and all showered and got ready for our dinner reservation at Primero Cantina, the onsite Mexican restaurant. The food was great and priced like most Mexican restaurants. I don’t think we got one picture this night (we were a little sun fried and were focused on the queso haha!) But I wore another sequin dress (this one was shirt sleeved and wasn’t white) and it fit so beautifully! I linked it here on Nordstrom Rack where it’s almost half off.
We went back to the lounge and played Monikers (just like fish bowl) in the lounge. We ordered a bottle of wine from the bar and sipped and played the game until about midnight. We went to bed exhausted so we slept in the next day before checking out. On the way out, we went to Whiskey Cake for brunch and had our last hurrah together before driving home. I wore this casual white dress (and again forgot to snap a photo.)
Thank you gifts:
I wanted to thank all of my girls for coming so I made these personalized starbucks cups. I grabbed the cups themselves at Starbucks for only $3 a piece. Then I purchased the name stickers from an Etsy shop for $4 a piece. So the entire cup was $7. I always see these done on Etsy for around $15 a piece so if you buy them like this you basically get 50% off. Plus the stickers come with the Starbucks logo, like the entire logo and pink name, so they’re super easy to stick on and hard to mess up. I know all the girls loved them!
