Welcome! I am so excited to actually have a blog where I can share… just about everything. I almost always have a project going, am usually on a budget, and genuinely love sharing my life. I’m a pretty open book and can’t wait to show you my latest home updates, outfits, recipes, etc.
Stage in Life:
I am officially a newlywed! After almost 7 years of dating, Cody and I got married at the Texas Ski Ranch on 10.10.2020. I know it’s not a typical wedding venue but we both worked there for 4 years and met and fell in love there! Plus it was perfect for our small budget to have a casual wedding! It was really the best day of my life. So many people said “your wedding day will be the best day of your life” and turns out they were right. I’m still getting around to writing blog posts for all of the DIY’s we did for that day. Check out my “Budget Wedding” tab for more!
Home Reno:
We bought a house in 2019! It’s in a suburb of Houston and sits on the wetlands. There’s never a dull moment: fishing, deer, rare birds… and gators. Still haven’t gotten used to those guys but they’re part of living out here. When the weather’s nice, we cruise around the boat after work. I drive and he fishes. It’s the best part of my day!
As far as the house itself goes, it wasn’t a pretty one. The entire house was neon yellow, had foundation issues, and just had a lot of things wrong with it. We have done every project ourselves so far, with the exception of foundation repair- we got that professionally done, but every title, paint, crack, wire, etc. we’re doing by hand. I’m so lucky that Cody is handy because I was not. I say was because I’m learning so much as we go through projects. It’s so crazy what the professionals charge to do simple things. I’m going to do my best to share what I’ve learned to help others tackle jobs on their own, rather than paying an arm and a leg for home repairs.
A Day In The Life:
My days are typically jam packed. I work in a dual role as a marketing coordinator and an executive assistant. I think both of those could be full time jobs. I work 9 hour days but always have spill over. I have the best coworkers and the best team that makes it all worth it though. I truly love where I work. I also am a commuter. I think most people in the greater Houston area are commuters. My commute is at best 30 minutes but typically more like an hour. I also try do 4 work out classes a week! We cook a lot to save money but I LOVE Chick-fil-A and would probably eat it everyday if I could! By the time I get home I really have enough energy to make dinner, do dishes, shower and then I’m out cold. (as I’m writing this its quarantine so I have to say I’m LOVING the forced slow down that’s allowing my time to do stuff like write this! But trust me, I know its a terrible pandemic… and I miss people!)
Fashion/Beauty Thoughts
I’m most certainly not a fashion or beauty expert but I LOVE those clothes, shoes, makeup, products, #allthethings. I’m kind of learning as I go and that’s what I love!
From my perspective, what makes someone beautiful is their personality. I think a personality has the chance to enhance your looks and detract from your looks… more that your actual looks. If that makes any sense!
Like I said, I’m a pretty open book so if you have any questions, just let me know!
